| A NATURAL HISTORY OF THE NESTS AND EGGS OF BRITISH BIRDS (Complete in 3 volumes) |
|
With 232 fine litographic plates finished by hand, with original tissue guards, half-titles and title pages to each volume. Original publisher's dark green-blue cloth with gilt lettering and gilt decoration to the spine, gilt vignette of a birds nest to the centre of the front boards, blind-stamped decoration. Bindings very good and fresh, a little general wear only, slight rubbing to extremities, a few corners a little worn, gilt bright. Original yellow end papers to all volumes. Contents clean and tight, no apparent inscriptions or other markings, the odd spot to page edges, plates very clean and bright, one or two with minimal spotting to edges. A handsome set in the publisher's original bright livery - the cleanest, brightest set we have seen. We also have the second edition of Morris's British Birds in the publisher's very similar binding - the two sets compliment each other very well on the shelf. Please see images on our w/s.
